MacGyver Slide

We were playing at the park the other night, and as we were leaving I told Jackson we could come back one day this summer and go down the water slides at the pool. He quickly piped up and said, "I know let's take my slide off my fort and use it in the pool. That's a good idea, right?"

 

Since he has a creative, fun, and resourceful Dad it actually happened! 

Jackson had a blast and spent at least a hour on the slide. I have a feeling the slide may be staying there all summer! SO fun!

Kitty House

On Sunday, Jackson got the crazy idea that he needed to make a kitty house for Kali. Kali is the cat that lives on our street. He was very concerned for her and where she sleeps when it rains and at night.

 

Thankfully, his Daddy is handy and loves him. Brian made all the sides to the kitty house and Jackson helped him drill holes and put the screws in.

 They brought the house inside to paint it and let it dry over night.

Monday after school, Jackson had Daddy paint CAT on the front. Now Kali knows it is just for her:)

Sweet boy was so excited about the Kitty house Daddy and him made. He checks it each night in hopes of seeing Kali in there. No luck yet, cross your fingers for us!

The End of Their Stay

Mel and Sharon left Wednesday evening. But, we couldn't have Mel leave without completing a project! Even we a bad shoulder he managed to assemble a fort/sand box for Jackson in less than 3 days. Jackson, of course, was a big help!

 Jackson loved playing and doing his own thing all day with Papa and Victor , I mean, Grandma. (Jackson was Kevin, a crane from Thomas and Grandma was Victor, a train from Thomas all week.)

We enjoyed some yummy frozen yogurt the night before they left.

Arts and Crafts Time

Two things that made Jackson's extremely happy:

1. Scissors

2. Glue sticks

Before he even got to use them he was shaking with excitement:) He had a little trouble with the scissors because they were a bit big for his hands. I held the paper and he cut scales for his fishy. He caught on to using the glue right away and was very determined to do it right. He would get carried away and try to push down the scales without putting glue on first, then look at me and say "I forget glue" and smile!
This project held his attention longer than I thought it would. After we were done gluing all the scales on he wanted to color. So, Jackson colored in the water, gave the fish an eye and mouth, and drew a worm.

His fishy is proudly displayed on the front of the refrigerator:) I guess we arts and craft time will be a regular thing this summer.
