California Living- Anniversary Issue

Saturday after we put Jackson down for he nap we headed out for a weekend by ourselves. We were beyond excited! We love, love, love Jackson but in 16 months we have probably only gone on a few dates and for sure never had a day or night just the two of us.
We took the scenic route to Newport Beach and stopped at the Shake Shack for lunch. Seanapri told us it was a famous stop along the ocean and it had great shakes, burgers, and fries. In case you are wondering how they taste we will never know. They don't make burgers or fries and we didn't get a shake, but our sandwiches and the view were all really good!

We made it to the beach house around 3 and shortly after we arrived Brian surprised me with this:
A beautiful ring for 5 years of marriage (we have actually been together almost 11 years). I love the ring! Brian did a good job:)
We went down to the beach and walked around for a while and then headed back to the beach house to shower and get ready for dinner.
In front of the beach house. It was hard to get a good picture of the house because it was 3 stories and connected to another 3 houses. It was a beautiful house and Matt did a great job renovating it.
On the balcony overlooking the ocean
We walked a half mile down to the Brewery and enjoyed dinner outside. I normally do not like eating outside because of all the mosquitoes and bugs but there were zero of them around in California!
After dinner we walked a mile down to the Balboa island and took the ferry across. Little did we know we were already on the good side. Good thing the ferry ride only cost one dollar.
The next morning we slept in since we didn't have our little alarm clock with us:) We got up and got ready to go to Hollywood. We got in the trusty, I mean rusty, Nissan Maxium armed with our GPS and headed north. We arrived on Hollywood Blvd around 11 o'clock and started walking. We made many tourist mistakes throughout the day! We were not able to get in front of the Chinese Theater because they were setting up for the premier of Cats and Dogs 2.
I was so excited that something was actaully going on, but we missed the celebrities by about 30 minutes because we left. I wished we would have asked when they would be arriving.
The red carpet:)
My love and me on Hollywood Blvd. We walked up and down the street and did some shopping.
Stopping to pose by Regis's star, I still watch Regis and Kelly almost everyday.
We left Hollywood to head over to Beverly Hills.
After finding a place to park, we walked over to Sprinkles and had a cupcake. Then we walked over to Rodeo Drive to do some shopping or rather window shopping.
The next morning we went to get breakfast and walk along the beach before Jackson came to meet us.

We missed our little boy:)
We thought about going to the San Diego Zoo but decided Jackson would only last about 30 min-1 hour and would have just as much fun playing in the bay that was closer and free.

Having a blast one minute,
And oh so sad the next!
Jackson and Corton rinsing off the sand.
After leaving Newport Beach we stopped at Fashion Island for lunch and some shopping.
rian and his parents at Fashion Island.
Jackson fell asleep on the way there and slept through lunch and most of our shopping.
He finally woke up in the toy store:) What a good dream!

California Living- Second Edition

Friday morning Jackson woke us up early again so we went on a walk together. When we got back we got all packed up to go to Laguna Beach. We arrived there around 10:30, found a place to set all of our belongings, and let Jackson run wild.

Jackson didn't mind that there was a cool breeze, that the water was below zero, or that the sun wasn't shining! I was wishing I had worn pants and a sweatshirt.

Brian swimming in the ocean for Jackson, but he wasn't too interested in what daddy was doing...

He was busy building with Papa!

Family pics

Jackson played in the sand and water for about an hour.
Jackson warming up under my blanket and me warming up with coffee!

We ordered pizza for lunch from BJ's across the street. Jackson fell asleep on Grandpa after lunch so Brian and I went to look in the shops along the beach.
I found the best store:)
The views from Laguna beach are beautiful! I loved looking at all the million dollar houses along the beach and up in the mountains.
My little surfer boy! Doesn't he look like a California boy? Sooo cute!!
LOVE him!
We walked down to see the tide pools. We saw a lot of big crabs. The whole time I was afraid I was going to fall or slip off of the rocks.
Fun day at the beach but we are ready for a shower:)
From Laguna Beach we headed to San Clemente. Brian and I spent one night at Mike and Seanapri's house and then head to our beach house on Newport Beach for our anniversary. Jackson spent the weekend there with Mel and Sharon.
Mike and Seanapri took everyone out to dinner at the Fisherman's Cove which is right on the pier.
Brian and I before dinner, Jackson did not want a picture with us
Our hosts and hostees' for the week; Gus, Mike, Seanapri, Corton, Laurie, Matt, Luke, Jalin, Rachel, and Telia
This is why he didn't want to pose for a picture, having to much fun with who else but Grandpa.

Chasing Jackson on the pier before dinner. We had to wait forever for dinner and eventually had to go find Jackson something to eat. All we could find was an $8 turkey sandwich which consisted of Oscar Meyer lunch meat and a roll and I am pretty sure the owner was sleeping when we first walked in. Our dinner was delicious when we finally got to eat at 9:00, we had been there since 6:00.

Saturday morning we got up and got ready to leave for our 5th anniversary trip. Matt and Laurie so graciously let us stay at their beach house for 2 nights.
Brian and I in Mike and Seanapri's backyard. Their house has a beautiful view overlooking a valley and you can see the ocean on clear days.
Here are a few pictures from Jackson's time with Grandpa and Grandma.
Seanapri told me his feet never touched the ground:)
Jackson liked playing with their 3 kids; Jalin, Telia, and Corton. The girls were so sweet to him.

After our weekend in Newport we went back to Mike and Seanapri's house to say goodbye and take care of some important business like:
Driving and riding in an Aston Martin:) It is a bit nerve wracking being in a car that is worth more than your house!
We look good, huh!?!?!? Too bad we were not this stylin' in Hollywood!
We also swam, ate dinner, and took a walk with them before heading back to Norco.

Sharon had enough babysitting and needed to relax!!

Corton and Jackson were buds by the end of the weekend, but I guess Corton had just enough of Jackson! Thanks Mike and Seanapri for being wonderful hosts! It was so fun hanging out with you and your kids. Your family is precious:)
