Astros Game

Last night we drove down to Minutemaid Park to see the Astros play. I tried to talk up the baseball game to Jackson all week. We checked out baseball books from the library and read them over and over. I also helped him make his own baseball, and he hit his baseball off the tee all week. He was ready!It was a beautiful night out!
Our seats were right above the bullpen, so we spent some time watching the pitchers warm up.
Once Jackson spotted the train that was all he could talk about. He wanted to see it move. Sadly, there were no homeruns, not even one run by the Astros! Jackson's world changed around when he got a ball of his own. One of the pitching managers threw one up to Brian for Jackson. It pays to be cute! He kept saying, "The guy threw the ball up! It's my ball!"
We kept Jackson entertained on the baseball game with popcorn, a trip to the playland,
Mickey,

a walk around the stadium (sporting his helmet),and Ice cream!

We ended up leaving up after the 7th inning because Jackson had enough, except that he was still awake when we got home. Could of it been all the sugar? I love that Jackson got a baseball, what a special memory for his 1st game!

Memorizing Scripture #14

1 Peter 5:7 "Give all you worries and cares to God, for He cares about you."

This is such a simple but yet hard verse because I often think I am in control. If only I would give every worry and care to God before I even worried what peace I would feel. That is my prayer that before I even begin to worry I lift it up to the Lord, the only one who can calm me and give perfect peace! ("The Lord gives perfect peace to those who put their trust in Him." Isaiah 26:3)

Jackson has also been working on memorizing his 1st verse. Here is Matthew 22:37:

Master Shower Completed

Back in May our Master shower went kaputs on us and so began the two month long construction project. Part of the reason it took that long was because of issues with the contractor and deciding on what type of shower door to go with.

This picture was from before we bought the house. We did not do anything to the shower itself, but we did take the wallpaper down and paint right away.

We ended up just going with a oil rubbed bronze framed door instead of a semi-framless door mostly because of the major difference in price. I was pleasantly surprised how much I actually liked the door, and Brian did a great job installing it all by himself!

Some things we did that was different than the previous shower (besides the obvious) was tile to ceiling, bring the shower out 4 inches, tiled the floor,

and put a built in soap box in.

At first we bought nickel fixtures, but last minute God provided a great deal on oil rubbed bronze fixtures. When we held up the fixtures side by side on the tile there was no question which ones to go with. I absolutely love the bronze look and how everything turned out!

Now, it is time to update the rest of the bathroom with bronze fixtures and get rid of the seashell sinks!

Together

Jackson and I had another great Monday together! Mondays are always a laid back day around our house. I think that is why I love them so much and because I spend them with a certain someone!

We both slept in and made muffins together!

Then we did some shopping together!

Enjoyed a picnic lunch together!
Read books and sang together!

Snuggled together after nap time!

Went swimming together!

Had dinner just the two of us!

Went to Bible Study together!

Shared many laughs and smiles together!

I will never take these times TOGETHER for granted! Thank you Lord for your many blessings!

Cows and Date Night

Friday at Chick-fil-a was Cow Appreciation Day, so if you dressed like a cow you got a free meal! Jackson was so excited that he got to dress up like a cow and wanted Brian and me to do it too. We all wore black pants, a white shirt, black spots on our back, Chick-fil-a sign on the front, black noses, and Jackson got an extra spacial set of ears and a tail! Jackson couldn't get enough of the cow. It was definitely worth the free meal!
Erica, Katrina's sister, was visiting for the weekend. They all came over Saturday morning and while the everyone else was swimming Erica cut Brian's and my hair. I couldn't stand my anymore all I could do with it was put it in a ponytail. Thanks Erica, it was just what I needed!

The rest of the afternoon Brian worked on installing our shower door. We finally have a door, it only took 2 months! Then it was time for date night!

My Aunt Midge so kindly watched Jackson for us. He couldn't wait to get rid of us when we dropped him off! (Check out Jackson's crazy after nap hair!)

Brian and I went to see Zookeeper at Studio Movie Grill. This was our first time going to this type of theater. Can't say it was my favorite. The smell of greasy food the whole movie just kind of grossed me out. We both enjoyed the movie. I took this picture in the theater before the movie started and when I checked to see if I got us, I had bunny ears. Yup the kids behind us gave us bunny ears! I gave them my teacher eyes.:)After the movie, we walked around City Center for a little bit. I loved it! It was cute so cute and fun. I think it might be my new favorite place and I haven't even tried anything there. I can't wait to go back for lunch, dinner, dessert, and shopping. It is always good to have some Jackson free time away with Brian!

What's Up?

Jackson in constantly changing and learning new things each day. He is now 2 years and 4 months old. Although I get asked a regular basis if he is 3 years old.

Jackson, you are still around 34-35 pounds and wear 2T-4T clothes. Your favorite breakfast right now is Cheerios with strawberries, bananas, or raisins in them or apple cinnamon oatmeal. For lunch you request a grilled cheese sandwich at least 4 days of the week. You love getting to have a few drinks of root beer as a treat for going potty!
You are officially potty trained! This makes mommy so happy and makes you seem so much older to me. You take a nap in your undies but sleep with a diaper on at night even though you wake up dry most mornings. You still use your pacifier at nap and bed time. You take one nap a day. You go down at 2 o'clock and sleep until 4 or 5 o'clock. We have finally moved to a point where we pray and sing with you, then walk away, and you go to sleep by yourself! You must have your Bible next to you in bed to go to sleep. You have started sleeping in a bit this summer. You wake up anywhere from 7-8:30. Mommy loves that you let her sleep in too!
You love to sing and know quite a few songs, most are kid or Bible songs but you do know some praise and worship songs that Daddy sings to you at night. You have learned your first Bible verse; Matthew 22:37. You have become quite the swimmer. You have improved so much from your first lesson with Kylie.

You pick things up very quickly. You consistently know 20 of your letters, confusing M and W and U and N. You love playing "games" on Starfall and request it at least once a day. As for shapes, you know circle, square, triangle, heart, star, and sometimes rectangle. You also love to color, cut, and glue.

You laugh all the time, but you are know catching on to jokes we make and fun parts in movies. I still can't get enough of your laugh. Your favorite movies are Mickey's Clubhouse, Cars, John Deere tractors, and Madagascar.

You have really gotten into pretend play even more than ever. You are often going to work, school, riding in the bus or on the train, talking on the phone, cooking, or working out! You play by yourself but would much rather have us play with you. You are still happiest outside playing or swimming in the pool but you have taken to your toys more and sometimes just want to stay inside to play. You have mastered jumping on two feet, galloping, and the forward roll at Little Gym. Your throw and golf swing have improved drastically and for that Daddy is thankful.:) You follow directions pretty well but can be very sassy towards your Mommy and Daddy. You hate getting ready to go somewhere. It is usually a daily battle to get you dressed and out the door on time, but once you are dressed we have no issue.

Jackson, I am so glad I get to spend every day with you during the summer. I love watching you grow and learn! I thank God daily for blessing my life with you!

Moody Gardens Part 3

Tuesday morning Jackson let us sleep in until 8:30. It was our last day at Moody Gardens and check out was at 12. We quickly ate breakfast in our room and then headed down to Palm Beach for the last time. We hit everything up for one last hurrah!

The beach seemed almost deserted compared to the last two days. I guess that is what we get for going over the holiday weekend. Jackson had wanted to ride the jet skis and they were finally free of kids.
Around 11 o'clock we went back to the room to pack everything up and check out. The nice thing about staying close to home was we still got home by 1 o'clock and had the afternoon to put Jackson down for a nap, unpack, do laundry, and swim:).

Brian and I kept talking about how nice the vacation was. It was close to home, just enough time away, perfect amount of things to do for Jackson and things that entertained us as well, it allowed us to put Jackson down for a nap each day, and new memories made!

Even though it was a short vacation and I am off for the summer, I feel like I have been playing catch up all week on errands, laundry, house work, and school stuff. Oh well, Thank you Moody Gardens for a great time away!
