Astros Playoff Game

Brian woke up Saturday morning and said let's go to the Astro's game, so off to the game for his birthday we went!

It was the last game of the ALCS against the Yankees!
Lincoln stayed home and went to Chuck E Cheese with Papa and Grandma and he was just as thrilled!

The street party was incredible! They had a drum line, face painting, balloon artists, photo booths, food, games!

We went to the game with some friends with the inside to parking and the Astros!:)

So excited to be here!

Great seats in right field, row 7. Jackson was hoping for a home run ball. Altuve's went one section to the left of us!

Jackson cheered the whole game, and I mean cheered! It was so fun experiencing the game with him and through a child's perspective!

Love this souvenir!

ASTROS WIN!!!!!!!

This playoff game was like no other Astro game we have ever been at. The atmosphere inside the stadium was incredible! We were part of history!

First Game Is In The Books

Excited for the game

Lined up before the game for the pledge. Jackson is the tallest!

He had three great hits and scored two runs!

The first inning Jackson played 3rd base and got two outs!
Notice Brian doing his coaching thing out there:)

Scoring a run and getting a high five from dad Coach

So proud of my little t-ball player!
He did so well no tears or complaining, which is huge for him!
You would have never guessed he had a 104 temperature and tested positive for the flu on Friday. Yes, we were those parents that let him play in the game on Saturday afternoon. But, God healed him. He had no fever or other symptoms Saturday morning and felt well enough to play!

Baseball Season

Jackson has had a great first season of T-ball. He has improved so much in a short time. I think he has enjoyed it for the most part, me too (besides the 100 degree noon games). He preferred batting. If he was in the field he was a lot more focused if he actually played a base.
His coaches were encouraging and really nice, and all the parents were kind and supportive. All around it was a positive experience.
By playing baseball, we were able to work on sportsmanship, attitude, and perseverance with Jackson. He is very confident in himself and proud of his golden trophy!

The First Game

Jackson had his first baseball game on Saturday. (Notice he is the only one with out baseball pants and cleats. We already fixed that issue for next game.)
While playing second base, he realized he knew a player from the other team. Emeka stopped running, and they talked for a minutes. HA!
On the bench waiting for his turn to bat.
Got a hit on his first swing and made it safely to first.
Unfortunately, he only got to bat once and spent most of the game in "ready" position in the field. He fielded a ball once and forgot to run to third with it.
Maybe the best part of the game!?!
We had no idea what to expect, but overall I think it went well. Jackson still says he likes baseball and thinks he's an all-star!

The Baseball Field

We decided at the last minute to sign Jackson up for baseball. Good thing we went the day we did, because they had practice that night. Jackson was so excited about finally being able to play!
One of the player's dad and grandpa are going to be coaching, but were unable to make the first practice. So, all the other parents stepped in and helped out.
Jackson did a good job following directions and didn't get too upset when he did something wrong. Most of the boys and girls on his team are a year older than him and have played 2 or 3 seasons. Thankfully, he is not the worse player.
I'm just hoping he got Brian's athletic ability!

Take Me Out To The Ball Game

Tuesday night we headed downtown to watch the Astros play. Jackson was excited about it all day and even remembered there was a play area and a train at the stadium.
I have always liked going to baseball games. Growing up it was the Brewers and now it is the Astros, unfortunately neither of them are usually that good.
Last night there was plenty of entertainment. The Astros scored 4 runs in the first inning, hit a home run in the second inning which meant a free grand slam at Denny's, and hit the Chick-fil-a foul pole for a home run and free Chick-fil-a sandwiches! Two home runs also meant Jackson got to see the train move several times.
Jackson was most interested in the play area, train, broken bat, and SNACKS.
We left before the game was over, but the Astros did beat the Cardinals 9-8!
Another fun night with my boys in the book!
 I LOVE summer vacation!

Home Run

Monday night Jackson and I tagged along to Brian's softball game. Jackson was super excited to go. He had his snacks, books, and glove loaded in his backpack!
Before the game, Brian let Jackson run the bases with him. I was trying to get a cute picture of the two of them. I only had my phone, and I failed miserably both times.
Jackson also helped Daddy warm up a little before the game started!
Jackson had his cookie and raisins gone before the game started. We also read all his books before the 1st inning was over. He liked watching Brian hit the ball and catch in the outfield when a ball went out that way, but that was about it. After about 3 innings, he played games on my phone. Brian, of course, was a stud. He made a running/jumping catch in the outfield (Jackson yelled "home run" when he caught it), hit the ball to the fence, and got on base each time. I love that I married an athlete!

Next game, Jackson and I will show up half way through and leave before it is over.:)

Gorgeous Weather Weekend

We had a few plans on the agenda this weekend; journey to the cross, de-weed the backyard, and play outside as much as possible. We couldn't have asked for better weather this weekend.

Friday night we went out to eat. One of my new favorite places to go eat is Misson Burrito. For a few reasons: 1. They send us great coupons, like so good we all can eat for $6! 2. It is close to the house. 3. It is pure yumminess in a shell.
After dinner, we stopped at the park to play. Jackson is in his element at a park. He absolutely loves to run wild.
Brian attached the jungle in the backyard once we got home, and Jackson and I did a variety things outside. I stayed up late working on a special scripture book for Jackson. (I'll share more about that later.) I am really excited about how it turned out!
Jackson was up bright and early Saturday morning. We went out for breakfast.
This boy ate 2 1/2 kolaches and asked for more to eat after that! What? He must take after Papa Gary!

Next, we went over to my Aunt's church. They were putting on Journey to the Cross. Jackson was most intrigued with hammering nails. We talked to him about how Jesus was killed and died for our sins.
Our neighbors down the street are hardcore baseball people. They gave Jackson a DeMarini baseball bat and Nike glove to use.
He was really into "playing" baseball for about 20 minutes.
He loved running the bases and tagging me out or scoring me out as he called it.
Jackson and I went swimming as Brian continued to sweat and work on the "jungle".
He asked if he could get his tube and ride the lazy river. Such a goof ball!
Brian was able to tame some of the craziness in the backyard and get a nice tan sunburn while he was at it. He also attempted to cut his own hair and actually did a decent job. I was impressed! What can't my husband do?

Thankful for a fun weekend outside, looking forward to seeing a lot of friends this week!

Astros Game

Last night we drove down to Minutemaid Park to see the Astros play. I tried to talk up the baseball game to Jackson all week. We checked out baseball books from the library and read them over and over. I also helped him make his own baseball, and he hit his baseball off the tee all week. He was ready! It was a beautiful night out!
Our seats were right above the bullpen, so we spent some time watching the pitchers warm up.
Once Jackson spotted the train that was all he could talk about. He wanted to see it move. Sadly, there were no homeruns, not even one run by the Astros! Jackson's world changed around when he got a ball of his own. One of the pitching managers threw one up to Brian for Jackson. It pays to be cute! He kept saying, "The guy threw the ball up! It's my ball!"
We kept Jackson entertained on the baseball game with popcorn, a trip to the playland,
Mickey,

a walk around the stadium (sporting his helmet),and Ice cream!

We ended up leaving up after the 7th inning because Jackson had enough, except that he was still awake when we got home. Could of it been all the sugar? I love that Jackson got a baseball, what a special memory for his 1st game!

What a fun family night!
