Celebrating

On Tuesday, Jackson and I went to have lunch with Brian. He picked up some cupcakes to celebrate our anniversary. Jackson was excited about that!
Aunt Midge came over Friday night to watch the boys so we could go on a date.
We went to dinner and enjoyed a peaceful meal without entertaining two boys:)
We thought about going to a movie, but decided on just shopping and walking around so we could actually talk to one another.

We ended the evening with some shaved ice at Bahama Bucks.

I love being able to spend time alone with this guy!

As we were driving down on our street the DJ was reading the same scripture (Col. 3:12-14) I posted the other day that was the message at our wedding. God sealed our 8th anniversary in the most perfect way; reminding us how real love works.

8 Years

Brian and I go way back, like to 8th grade. That is when I remember first hanging out with him. We didn't "officially" date until I was 16 per my parents rules. We may have been married 8 years now, but we have been together for 15 years.

He was my homecoming and prom date. We watched each other play sports. I looked forward to hanging out on the weekends and Sunday night youth group.
Here we are in high school:

We didn't go to the same high school, but decided to go to the same college. Brian proposed our sophomore year, and we got married right before our senior year. That last year of college was super fun; married with little responsibility and no bills:)

We moved to Houston, lived on one income, laughed, cried, and learned a lot along the way.

We made it to 8 years, our family looks a bit different, but I am still standing next to my best friend!
God has blessed us time and time again.
I love you Brian!

"Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.  Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you." Colossians 3:12-13

A Love Worth Fighting For

Friday night Brian and I attended a Marriage Conference.
We dropped Jackson off at Aunt Midge and Uncle Dan's house. Then, we headed to Freebirds for a quick dinner before the event.
Warren Barfield was the musical guest and Kirk Cameron was the speaker. Warren was extremely funny and shared a lot from his heart about marriage and how it is worth fighting for. Kirk spoke about being selfless and transforming your heart. He said the purpose of marriage is to be holy; joy and happiness come as a result of being holy. He also talked about squashing any sin in your life so it doesn't destroy the marriage.

At 10:30 the event was still going strong, but we ended up leaving so we missed the second part of Kirk's message.
Thankful for an evening with my love to think about our marriage and thank God for it.
I definitely want to give my best to Brian and fight for our marriage every day.
