Monday morning started like any other Monday, wishing I could stay in bed and cuddle with Jackson a little longer. I was in the middle of meeting with a reading group when I got the call. Sandy, Jackson's babysitter, never calls. I knew it wasn't going to be a good thing, and I was right. Jackson fell when dancing, cut his head, and was going to need stitches.
I have never left my classroom so fast and in such a mess. On my way to get Jackson I called Brian to meet me there. I didn't want to watch Jackson get stitches on my own. We first went to the emergency room but after waiting 40 minutes and not even registering, we left. Just down the road was an urgent care that did stitches. We were in and out within 45 minutes.
Jackson was very brave. He cried hard when they put the numbing ointment on his cut. Hearing him in pain made me cry. That's why I needed Brian. He was calm and kept talking to Jackson. Five stitches and many tears later we were done. We promised Jackson chicken and ice cream when he was all done.
He was good to go by Trick-or-Treating time! Here is our monkey pre-stitches and...
With stitches!
Right before we left, Jackson was ready to go.
He was really into trick-or-treating this year. He would say "trick-or-treat" and "thank you" at every house and run from house to house.
He would run back and say "I got more!" Every now and then, Jackson would make monkey sounds.
Louis and Katrina joined us again this year. We only went down about 2 streets and Jackson's pumpkin was full of candy.
I am so glad the ending of our day was better than the beginning. I love my little monkey!
