Thanksgiving Campout 2019

We arrived at Lake Somerville and began setting up our tent. Always thankful for my love!
We put carpet down in our tent this time and it made it cozy and warmer. We also put up a tarp because there was a high percentage of rain, and guess what NO rain. Thank you Jesus!

The weather was beautiful!
First things, first, boys off on the trails.

Jackson brought his survival book and made a trap.

He did a great job, but no squirrel this time!

Campfire!

Smores is the best part of camping, right?

Lincoln spent 98% of our trip in the hammock :)

Brian caught a fish

Two mighty tasting bass for an appetizer

Widdling away

Sunday morning was a little bit chilly, but the fire warmed us right up!

We loved all the hiking trails.

So thankful for time to relax and hang out with family and friends.

Thanksgiving Camping Trip

We headed out Thanksgiving morning to camp with our friends!

These boys had the best time together!

Our favorite camping buddies:)

While the dads fished, we tested our luck on the Trail of No Return!

Love spending time outside with them!

Cooking our Thanksgiving dinner...

Pizza Pudgy Pies!! Mmmm!

But, we had the traditional pumpkin pie for dessert!

Hiking and finding animals in the dark was a favorite of the boys!
Brian found some armadillos for us to see.

Rook time!
The girls dominated this trip. :)

The Hartzler Lodge!
It was rather chilly (45 degrees) at night, but thankfully our new sleeping bags and small heater kept us pretty toasty! (However, out new tent brought as we took it down. Boo!)

Day 2-Camp hair don't care!

Scavenger hunt time and lots of laughs over all the caterpillars with the littler boys while the big boys fished with the Dads!

Boat time!

The beauty of the lake and God never ceases to amaze me!

Another one of his favorite parts of camping...S more's!

Another night time hunt!!

Lincoln was super proud of Brian's catch!

Beautiful

Like father, like son!

The deer walked freely throughout the park everyday. It was fun to see deer just wandering around a couple feet away from you. When I went to the bathroom one night, I saw at least 19 in the field.

They played in the sand, played at the park, fished, hiked, played hide and seek in the dark, and had the absolute best together!

The bees were TERRIBLE during the day! They would swarm our site and not leave until the sun went down. Super annoying and one stung me while packing up. Darn bees!

We loved camping on Thanksgiving with friends who are like family!

Spring (24 hour) Camping Trip

Friday morning, we were loaded down and headed out to Lake Somerville for our spring camping trip with the Loucks!

We arrived, set up camp, and the boys explored!

We were worried about rain, but it held off and we enjoyed a beautiful, windy day!

Steve and Brian fishing, fishing, and fishing!

The boys loved digging in the clay, building, and getting dirty.

They were happy doing this for hours!!

More exploring and climbing on the rock piles!

Michelle and I supervising the boys! :)

Eating the fish the dads caught! 5 big fish feed the boys!
Yummy!

Once the boys went to bed, we played Rook outside on the picnic table. It was windy but not too bad. Within a minutes time the wind changed directions, dropped temperatures, and it started pouring. The tent began blowing and we were afraid it was going to fly away. Michelle and I held the sides while Steve and Brian attempted to put up a tarp. I went in the tent at one point to check on the boys and put up the windows and the tent collapsed on me! Definetly freaked me out! We moved the boys to the pop up camper Steve and Michelle rented. We moved to the bathroom because of a Toranado Watch and eventually moved back to the pop up and all slept in the camper!!

By the grace of God we made it through the night, our tent didn't blow away, and the canoe stayed on the bank. We are SOOO thankful our friends rented a camper, and then let us sleep in there with them!

Eating breakfast in the camper!

Saturday morning we threw our tents away, packed up as quickly as we could in the wind and rain, and headed home.
We were disappointed the weather didn't cooperative and our weekend was cut short, but thankful for the sunshine after the storm and a memorable weekend with friends!!
